Virgo Season 2026

Virgo season begins today: Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 10:19 PM EDT (7:19 PM PDT). As Leo season is coming to an end for 2026 we are reminded of the energy of Leo. It's in the spotlight, front and center and ready to be seen. In the Northern hemisphere the colder months are ahead and Virgo energy is entering the chat with organization, details and stillness.

Let's Talk About the Cusp Babies First....

Virgo season ends the instant the Sun reaches 0° Libra, which is also the September Fall/Autumn equinox. Depending on where you live and where you were born (if you were born on the 23rd like me), you may be a Virgo or you may be a Libra. In the Americas, Virgo season closes on the evening of the 22nd. In the UK, Europe, and everywhere further east, it runs into the 23rd.

Here's the important part if your birth day falls in this window: The Sun enters Libra anywhere from September 21 to 23 depending on the year, because the tropical year runs roughly 365.2422 days while our calendar insists on 365.

This is why so many people born around September 22 and 23 have spent their whole lives unsure whether they are Virgo or Libra. The cutoff can be different. If that is you, the only way to tell is to run your birth chart with your exact birth time.

Moving from Leo to Virgo

The year-long trip around the zodiac from the Sun, gives each of the twelve archetypes a turn in the spotlight, which is how we get repeated practice with the parts of ourselves that we still need to work on.

Leo season just gave us permission to play more, take up space, let our passions come to the forefront, share the cool thing you made. The Sun rules Leo, so that month runs at full brightness, speed and fire energy by natural design. And did anyone else realize that fire energy just made the month fly by? Hello?

Virgo season on the other hand is giving us a totally different type of vibe. Think ... refinement, small intentional adjustments made over and over until they add up to something you could not have built quickly or with so much spotlight on you. Leo shines the spotlight on doing you what you love and Virgo makes you focus on how you plan to serve the collective with that gift.

All About Virgo Season Energy

Mutable (flexible) Earth, ruled by Mercury (the planet of communication) is the combination that gives you a sign that is by nature, very practical, health conscious, adaptable, pattern recognizing, observant and constantly gathering information.

Virgo is also the sign of the harvest in the Northern Hemisphere, which is where the whole archetype comes from. Harvest work is all about sorting and separating the grain from the husk. Where we keep what feeds and place the rest back into the Earth for renewal and regeneration. The idea of harvesting and even the practice is the energy that Virgo embodies.

This is the stage where we develop discernment. Which foods fuel us and which ones are empty for the soul. Also, which people nourish your energy and which ones drain it. What habits nuture out life path and which ones cause us to waste away. Discernment is the skill of telling those apart and Virgo energy is quite strong here.

Mercury's rulership adds the mental side of the coin. Observation, detail, self-analysis and the habit of asking questions instead of assuming.

How can you channel this? When you're travelling through life and something doesn't go as planned, instead of focusing on "Why is this happening TO me?", Virgo energy will ask "What is the lesson in this difficult time?"

That question changes any setbacks or victim mentality into information. Every mistake, setback, hiccup and hurdle carry important data and lessons, and Virgo is very good at understanding this.

Who Feels This Season Most

If you have planets or angles in the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces), you are definitely going to be channeling this energy much more!

Look hard at your habits, daily choices, and any routines taht may be running on autopilot. Bring order and intention to your inner world and to your physical spaces. Notice where your life needs more intention and more devotion.

The Sky Dancers in Virgo Season 2026

This season opens inside the eclipse window, which is the two-week stretch between the two eclipses of a season. That makes the first half of Virgo season super charged.

August 25 to September 10, Mercury Comes Home

Mercury follows the Sun into Virgo on August 25 and stays until September 10
Mercury rules Virgo, so it's definitely in the comfy zone withe some great energy for writing, editing, speaking, teaching, studying, and ordinary daily communication.

If you have a project that needs attention with smoother completion, this is the window. Editing a manuscript, learning a skill, building or delivering a presentation, writing short form content. Mercury in its own sign rewards detail work.

August 27 brings a Mercury cazimi at 4°27' Virgo, at 1:10 PM EDT

Cazimi means Mercury sits in the exact heart of the Sun, which traditional astrology explains that this is where the planet is at its most potent.. Expect a busy day. Lots of messages, small tasks, lots of little decisions may be popping up and stacking up. It is also an great day for clear thinking about anything you have had sitting on the back burner for a while.

August 28, The Partial Lunar Eclipse in Pisces

The Full Moon arrives at 4°53' Pisces at 12:12 AM EDT on August 28, and it is a deep partial lunar eclipse. About a third of the Moon slides into Earth's shadow, so it should turn a dark coppery color with like a bright sliver. This moon is called the Sturgeon Moon. It will be visible across Africa, Europe, and nearly all of the Americas!

A note for those of us on the West Coast: that timing puts the eclipse on the evening of August 27 for you, at 9:12 PM PDT.

Pisces closes the zodiac, and a lunar eclipse there is intended for completion of old patterns, cycles that just aren't serving your highest good, or processes and things that have been ending super slowly for months. This is the window of the year where they finish.

Three Pisces eclipses have occurred since September 2024, and this is the final one, which makes this a closing chapter. Whatever the Pisces part of your chart has been working on for two years, this is the final push. Finish out with strength, understanding and gratitude for the experience.

Eclipse Aspects We Are Working With on 8/28

The Sun in Virgo and Moon in Pisces both square Uranus in Gemini : This can look like some unpredictability where plans don't go as planned or feelings of restriction or constriction in some way may all of a sudden not feel that way. You may also feel some restlessness for several days on either side of the eclipse, especially if you have the mutable placements.

Moon opposes Mercury in Virgo : The analytical brain may enter the boxing ring with emotions and intuition. The best plan of action to feeling balanced is understanding both sides and being ok with both.

Jupiter rules Pisces which makes Jupiter the ruler of this eclipse. Jupiter is sitting in Leo, and it is building toward a trine with Saturn in Aries. That aspect is within orb during the eclipse and goes exact three days later!!! Here's what that means....

Jupiter Trines Saturn, August 31

Jupiter at 13°41' Leo trines Saturn at 13°41' Aries on August 31 at 6:40 PM EDT. Wowza!
Jupiter and Saturn form a trine roughly every six or seven years, and this is the first of three in this series. The others land in April and July 2027, so whatever you start now has two more supportive windows ahead of it.

Jupiter incorporates energy of expansion, confidence, and the faith, belief and empowerment that something great is possible. Saturn gives us structure, discipline, and the will and guts to do the gritty work for a long time. When they work together (because that's what a trine promotes), we gain ambition and follow-through on all the things we are wanting to start, see through and get done. Yaaaas!

This is a strong period for building something in your life that means a lot to you and that you want to last. It's also a fabulous time to committing to a course of study, or for turning an idea you've been sitting on into an actual plan.

Since this trine rules the Pisces eclipse, whatever completes for you on August 28 will also connect you to something you are building or working on in the Leo and Aries parts of your chart.

Mars Squares Saturn, September 1

Ok so we just had all this magick happen right? Hold on to that magick because the very next day brings some friction. Squares are tough aspects. Mars at 13°39' Cancer squares Saturn at 13°39' Aries on September 1 at 6:01 AM EDT.

This one is gonna be annoying because you may be putting forth so much effort into something but feeling a ton of resistance. Like a project moves slower than planned, something takes considerably more energy or length of time than you budgeted for or anticipated, or you're waiting on something or someone longer than planned. Patience is the skill that will be tested. Make sure you pass the test!

Mars (the planet of action and fire energy) in Cancer (the sign of emotions, family and home space) also reacts emotionally, so watch how you handle conflict or disagreements during this window. If something upsets you, give it a few days before you address it. That fire energy in Mars and the emotional water energy from Cancer will require some simmering down. What feels urgent on September 1 will probably look different by the 4th.

The New Moon in Virgo, September 10

The New Moon lands at 18° Virgo on September 10 at 11:26 PM EDT (September 11 for readers in the UK and Europe). This New Moon closes the eclipse portal and starts the integration period.
It opens a lunar month where the focus is on our daily habits, the relationship we have with work and service, and our own experience and journey with our definition of health. Sun and Moon both sextile Mars in Cancer, which gives us the motivation to actually make the changes we need to make instead of just thinking about them or mentally planning. If the Virgo energy of your life has felt like it's been at a standstill through late August, you can expect it to start moving after this lunation.

Mercury moves into Libra, and Venus moves into Scorpio.
Venus stations retrograde on October 3 at 8°30' Scorpio, backs into Libra on October 25, and turns direct on November 13 at 22°52' Libra. It then returns to Scorpio in early December and stays into January.

In a nutshell: Something comes up in September then it resolves around the new year. Pay attention to Scorpio's energy at this time: intimacy, trust, shared money, shadow work, and what you want from your closest people.

Here's a snapshot of the dates to note:

  • Sept 10: Venus enters Scorpio
  • Oct 3: Venus goes retrograde
  • Oct 25: Venus moves out of Scorpio into Libra
  • Nov 13: Venus goes direct
  • Dec 4: Venus returns to Scorpio for a second pass
  • Early January: moves on for good

  • Venus opposes Chiron the same day (September 10). Chiron is the wounded healer in your chart (the place we carry our most sensitive wounds and vulnerability) that formed early in life or that we have carried from past lives and either never fully closed or has some very sensitive scar tissue attached. An opposition puts two planets across from each other, so during this Venus (planet of love, sensuality, beauty and harmony) opposition to Chiron (the wounded healer), we will feel disruption and confusion and a tension between the energies.

This translates to understanding the conflict of what you want out of love and connection on one end, but acknowledging old wounds at the same time. Chiron sits in early Taurus, which influences the while thing with thoughts of self-worth and security. During this time you may be asking questions like "Am I valued?" or "Am I asking for too much or is this (person or experience) just not the right fit for me?".

If you feel this type of energy come to the surface around or on September 10, just be mindful and understanding that it's from the influence of the Venus opposition to Chiron. Acknowledge whatever it is but try not to take unnecessary full force action until the intense feelings settle.

Other Dates to Note: September 12 to 18

    • September 12: Mercury in Libra opposes Neptune in Aries. Great for brainstorming, creative thinking, and anything that comes easier to you without you having to force anything.
    • September 18: Mercury in Libra opposes Saturn in Aries. Mental focus comes back and we are sharp thinkers. Great time for writing, research, editing, and finishing something that needs strict adhering to. Build in extra time for travel and commuting around this date, because Mercury and Saturn together are known for causing delays.

    Tarot & Virgo:

Here is something that makes this seasonal change very satisfying if you work with cards. Every sign of the zodiac has a Major Arcana card attached to it. The system comes from the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn in the late 1800s, and it is the framework most modern decks are built from.

Leo's card is Strength. Virgo's card is The Hermit and they sit right next to each other in the deck.

In the Rider-Waite Smith (RWS) Strength is card VIII (8), The Hermit is card IX (9). The zodiac runs Leo into Virgo, and the Major Arcana runs Strength into The Hermit, in the same order, at the same point.

    Strength: The Leo Lesson

Look at the card. A woman stands with a lion, hands on its jaws, expression completely calm. She has flowers in her hair, a lemniscate (figure 8 or infinity symbol) floating above her head.

She meets the massive energy of the Lion with patience and warmth and it just settles into her hands.
That is Leo's whole vibe! Your desires, appetite, creative power, and your need to be seen. Strength encourages those forces to work when you approach them with a sense of steadiness instead of force. Leo season asked you to stop apologizing for the lion inside you and learn to tame it through warmth and patience.

    The Hermit: The Virgo Lesson

Now look at the next card. A robed figure alone on a mountain peak and he's holding up a lantern with a six-pointed star burning inside it, leaning on a staff. This card is the opposite of the lion. He's alone and just one person no spotlight, but a warm glowing light.

The Hermit takes the flame and light that Strength discovered and instead of shining it out into the world, he shines it into his own world. The lantern illuminates a small circle of grounded energy.

That is Virgo's vibe and vibe of the season. Discernment requires stillness and requires us to be quiet. Refinement requires us to look closely at what is right in front of us. The staff in the picture means the Hermit has walked this road before and now has something to lean on. The mountain means the perspective of seeing situations and journeys from a higher perspective was !00% earned by climbing that mountain to the summit.

    Reading Them Together

Strength gives you the fire and the Hermit teaches you where to place it. Leo season was the lion and Virgo season is the lantern. We spent a month learning what we love and what we are capable of, and now we get a month to examine it all in detail, alone, without anyone watching or influencing.

Notice also what changes about the light itself. Strength sits under an open sky in daylight and the Hermit carries the light personally, in the dark, and it only reaches as far as an arm can hold it.

The transition from a sunny day to darkness and having to create the light yourself is a sign of expansion and growth.

    A Sacred Season

This season we are heading into is my favorite, not just because I was born in it or because I get to make and bake and cook hearty foods...oh and let's not forgot the witchy altar and the thinning of the veil...ok I'm getting off track. But seriously...this season is SACRED AF!

Virgo season pushes you into a place where your daily life IS your spiritual practice. The dishes, your drive to work and home again, the email you've been meaning to get to, the way you feed yourself at 2 PM on a Wednesday when nobody is watching (cupcake or nutrients).

A relationship with something much greater than yourself gets built in those moments. Peak experiences are wonderful and for many, are also a rarity. When every day you take the small stuff and make it a ritual or devotional moment you do with presence, you create magick constantly. Cooking a meal, organizing your space, running errands, caring for the body that is working for you and carrying you around.

Any of these turns mundane tasks can turn into an act of love. This is also the season for treating your body as a place worth caring for. Virgo governs health in all its dimensions, so pay attention to how you eat, rest, move, and how well you listen when your body. Patience and humility and stillness are key.

Virgo season rewards slowing down enough to notice that ordinary moments have been beautiful the whole time.

    Working With This Season

Pick one habit, work on it and refine it. One. The temptation with Virgo energy is to overhaul everything at once and the shadow side is perfectionism, which collapses by week two. Not even kidding. Choose the smallest change you can imagine that will create sustainability and let it compound over time.

    • When something frustrates you this month, pause and ask what it is showing you. Write the answer down.
    • Do one basic task with full attention and intention. Wash the dishes and take note of how the water sounds, feels and have gratitude for it. Notice what shifts in the mind and heart space.
    • Clean one corner of your space. A drawer, your altar, a shelf, the car. Both external and internal order work in tandem.
    • Keep notes or journal through the eclipse window. The stretch between August 28 and September 10 can make more sense when you re-visit your writings.
    • Listen to your body once a day. Ask it what it needs. The body KNOWS. Then do the thing, make the change, rest, get up and moving. Whatever it is. Listen to the body.
    A Note on Free Will
Astrology describes the weather and you decide what to do about it. Virgo season offers the energies of refinement, discernment, and self-care. Just remember that there is no transit that overrides your choices. Take what resonates, leave the rest, and trust your own read on your life over any forecast.

    XoXo,
    Sarah
